An extreme athlete in the French Alps on a wingsuit-jump of a 3450-meter high mountain peak died.
Rescue workers had discovered the 32-year-old at the foot of the Pointe Trifide near La Grave, said the public prosecutor, as reported by the Omroep France 3 and the newspaper “Le Dauphiné Libéré”.
“Apparently they jumped in pairs and crashed at the foot of the trifide,” said the mayor of La Grave, Jean-Pierre Pic, the newspaper. According to the public prosecutor, the local mountain police started investigations to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
The accident is therefore a mountain guide from the region that jumped with a second athlete from the Berg. The companion landed in the valley intact.
