The well -known limit of 100 milliliters for liquids in hand luggage during flying may soon be a thing of the past. The EU committee is now planning a new regulation for security checks at the airport.
The European Commission is working on the approval for modern scanner technologies, in which liquids in containers with a filling amount of up to two liters are permitted, as said in the Ö1 Morning Journal. However, the EU committee did not say anything about when the new regulation should apply this year will be scarce for the holidays.
This relief makes so-called C3 scanners possible, which make 3D images of luggage and work in the same way as CT devices in the hospital. The scanners examine the luggage and identify packaged liquids and electronic devices. This means that passengers no longer their backpacks and Co.
The modern C3 scanners are already in use at airports in Britain. Airports such as Amsterdam, Rome or Frankfurt also have such scanners in the EU – but they are not allowed to use them. The European Airport Association now insists that the EU committee allows the use of modern scanners in the 27 EU countries. After all, the C3 scanners are about ten times as expensive as regular devices.
