While many people in Central Europe are concerned about the coming winter given the high energy prices, Greece has a way out. Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias invites you to spend the cold months in his country – thus saving energy costs in the mild Mediterranean winter.
He especially wanted to appeal to older people, as he explained in the German “Bild”. “For the fall and winter, it would be a great pleasure for us Greeks to welcome German retirees who want to experience a ‘Mediterranean winter’ with Greek hospitality, mild weather and quality services,” said Kikilias.
“We will wait for you here,” the minister added, stressing that this would help escape massive inflation and the looming energy shortage.
Destination to survive “crisis winter”.
The mayor of the port city of Chania on the Greek island of Crete, Panagiotis Simandirakis, joined the call. “We invite every German who wants to come to us this winter to live here – away from the crises,” he said.
Crete is very suitable to “survive a crisis winter”. Here you do not need heating in the house. “No German will freeze in Greece” (No German will freeze in Greece), the mayor said.
