People who need to leave home before symptoms of a respiratory infection develop should avoid crowds and public transport, according to new government Covid guidelines. Wearing a face mask or an appropriate face mask, avoiding large social gatherings and closed or poorly ventilated spaces is one of the measures you should take.
An updated guide from the UK Health and Safety Agency (UKHSA) also advises people to exercise outdoors and away from others and to remember hand and respiratory hygiene. The instructions are intended to help people with symptoms of respiratory infections, those who test positive for the COVID-19 virus, and anyone they come into contact with. It offers tips on safe behaviors that anyone can use.
The UKHSA says there is some evidence that children may get sick for a shorter period of time than adults. Children and young adults who test positive, even if they do not show any symptoms, should stay home and avoid contact with other people for three days from the day of the test.
“The pandemic is not over yet” and “Covid remains a real threat for many of us,” says UKHSA Executive Director Jenny Harry. The legal requirement for self-isolation expired on February 24 after testing positive for Covid-19 in England, but ministers issued new instructions for people who were well, as well as those who tested positive for the virus.
After Friday (April 1), people who test positive for Covid-19 are advised to “try” to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for five days, the most contagious disease. The advice emphasizes that it is important for anyone with symptoms to avoid people with weakened immune systems. Those who have tested positive for Covid-19 should avoid people at risk of developing serious illness for at least 10 days.
Ms. Jenny said: “As we learn to live with Covid, we encourage people to take simple steps to help ensure the safety of themselves and others. The pandemic is not over and it remains unclear how the virus will evolve over time.
“Covid remains a real threat to many of us, especially in high-risk cases and hospitalizations. This is why it is advisable to wear a face mask in enclosed, crowded, enclosed spaces with good ventilation and away from others if you have symptoms. About respiratory illness.” Vaccination is the best way to protect us all from serious illness and recovery.”
