According to not yet confirmed reports from the occupancy authorities in Oost -Boekraine, the Luhansk region is now fully in Russian hands.
The report on the complete conquest came two days ago, said the governor of the region, Leonid Passetschnik used by Moscow, on the Russian state of television. So far there is no confirmation from KYIV. The Ministry of Defense in Moscow has not yet reported the full line of the Luhansk area.
Initially taken over by Ukrainian separatists
In the past, the official confirmation of Moscow usually came shortly after the success reports of the local occupation agencies. The eastern Ukrainian region of Luhansk had already reached control of the separatists who were supported by Moscow in 2014. In the case of an outbreak of war, the Russians managed to conquer the majority of the region within a few months.
During their counter -offensive in the fall of 2022, the Ukrainians were able to recapture some areas in the north of Luhansk. In the end, however, they only held a territory of a few square kilometers. In addition to Crimea, who was annexed in 2014, Kremlin Chief Vladimir Putin completely claims Ukrainian areas of Luhansk, Donetsk, Saporischschja and Herson as Russian territory.
Kyiv: Sumy driven from Sumy
In the past two months, Russian troops have won a total of around 950 square kilometers. According to the Ukrainian observer group Deep State, Russia currently controls 113,588 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. The occupied territories are the Crimean Peninsula, more than 99 percent of the Luhansk region, more than 70 percent of the Donetsk, Saporischschja and Cherson regions and parts of the Charkiw, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk. However, the Ukrainian general staff reported on Tuesday that the Russian occupiers were completely pushed back from Sumy.
