The Borg Dreierschützengasse in Graz will be renovated and rebuilt after the murderous Spree, the lessons will take place in a nearby business building from September – for how long is still open. A well -known artist must take over the redesign of the color, students and teachers are integrated.
What’s in Gymnasium Dreierschützengasse? In recent weeks, this question has hired teachers, students, parents, experts and politics and after investigating countless variants (including a complete renovation), a fundamental decision has been made: the building will be extensively renovated and partially redesigned, but should retain its identity.
A new color concept is central. According to the educational directorate, artistic management takes over a renowned artist – the name has not yet been revealed. Pupils and teachers from the musical creative area and an architect are also involved. The entrance and the outdoor spaces have also been redesigned. The classrooms in which the 21-year-old murderer has wiped out ten lives should no longer be used in the future.
Lessons in nearby commercial buildings
The federal government is supported by the federal government. For the time of work, the school moves to a nearby AVL building. It is modern, offers enough space and lies behind the Helmut-List-Halle, which on the day of the murderous Spree and then the young people native. The building was adjusted in the summer. How long this temporary solution will be in force cannot yet be estimated.
“The Borg Dreierschützengasse has always placed great emphasis on musical creative education. We are building on that. Together with the students, teachers and an artist, we want to give the school a new, artistic face-one that remains familiar and at the same time creates room for new things,” says Education Director Elisabeth Meixner.
Martin Netzer, general secretary of the Ministry of Education, chairman of the staff representative Michael Harb and Mirza Candic, chairman of the Parents’ Association, also respond positively. “Special thanks also go to everyone involved in the summer program that not only offers our children stability and community, but also show them that they are not only during this transition period,” says Candic.
Former students are the program
Among other things, animal support individual and group therapies, a regular visit to the horse farm, dog meetings at the school building and free lessons in the summer support are offered in central courses from the end of August. The program is supplemented with the voluntary initiative “side by side”, which is organized by former students and picnics, cooking, writing workshops and board play afternoons.
