Police reluctant – aspiring pilot still at large after burglary

Date:

The search for the potential plane thief at the airport in Langkampfen, Tyrol (Kufstein district) is still in full swing. Numerous questions arise about the mysterious case. The police, however, kept inconspicuous when asked.

The burglary in a hangar at the airport in Langkampfen on Wednesday is still unclear. A stranger damaged two small planes and stole a car. The police found the car a little later in Vomp in the Schwaz district, but there was no trace of the unknown driver. A total of 17 police patrols and two sniffer dogs had already unsuccessfully searched for the fugitive on Wednesday.

The police are inconspicuous in this case
The search continued on Thursday, police confirmed. The patrol was looking for the man, police said. Whether the search was limited to the Kufstein and Schwaz districts or expanded could not or would not be clearly confirmed. Whether there is already an indication of the identity and motive of the pilot-to-be, the authorities did not want to say for reasons of investigative tactics. Only: “Several checks and investigations are underway.”

The wanted person had damaged the two planes while trying to put them into service. Whether he really wanted to fly away with it is not certain. Before fleeing in his car, he caused damage in the hundreds of thousands of euros.

Police are still requesting information by calling 059 133-7210.
