Serious death: A 20-year-old suffocated in her bed and was then taken to hospital. The police are investigating.
At some point on Thursday night the young Syrian was suddenly dead, why, why? That is unclear. It was a “serious death,” he said. “I found my wife dead in bed,” the 20-year-old’s husband said. But instead of alerting the police, the man who came home from work that morning called two friends.
Transported to the clinic by car
Together, the trio dragged the lifeless body from the bed and carried it gently but irreverently to the car. The deceased was quickly placed in the back seat of the car. The horrific transport ended in the Favoriten clinic.
There the emergency physicians, who had rarely seen such a case before, saw at first glance that any medical art would be in vain. Nevertheless, the team made several – ultimately unsuccessful – attempts to resuscitate the 20-year-old.
Autopsy result: death by asphyxiation
Because a violent crime cannot be completely ruled out, the public prosecutor ordered an autopsy. This resulted in: suffocation! The cause of death may be related to the Syrian’s proven previous illnesses or to a pillow pressed to the head. So far, however, neither the husband nor his helpers are listed as suspects. In any case, the investigations by the Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department are in full swing.
