The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the CAV increased by 0.9% in the second quarter of 2022 (from April to June) compared to the previous quarter, according to the estimates of the Quarterly Advances Accounts made by Eustat. As for the second quarter of the year 2021, the GDP of the Basque Country has increased by 4.3%.

As highlighted by the Basque Statistical Institute, the current economic information available at the time of preparing this preview points to a “widespread ascent” of activity in key sectors of the Euskadi economy, although “at a slightly slower pace” than forecast for the previous quarter.
Employment, measured as full-time equivalents, increased by 0.8% from the previous quarter and is the sixth consecutive quarter of quarter-on-quarter growth in employment. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the recovery in the number of jobs is estimated at 3.7%.
Eustat will publish disaggregated estimates of GDP and employment in its quarterly accounts for the second quarter of 2022 on September 22, after incorporating cyclical information that was not available at the time of preparing this preview, as well as re-estimations of the annual macro magnitudes of 2020 and 2021.
