A crew member from the TV series “Law & Order: Organized Crime” was shot dead Tuesday morning in New York’s Brooklyn neighborhood near the set. Police said the 31 man was killed in a car after being shot in the head and neck.
The victim, a 31-year-old man whose name will be withheld until his family is notified, was killed in a car in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn around 5:15 a.m. PT, New York City police said in a release.
Multiple shots to the neck and head
According to the police, officers determined that the man was unconscious and had received multiple shots to the head and neck. He was taken to a hospital where he was eventually pronounced dead.
North Henry Street, where the crime took place, is a residential area. The crew member was on the production team and was responsible for the safety of the equipment on the set.
“Our hearts are with his family”
“We were deeply saddened and shocked to learn that one of our members was the victim of a crime and died as a result,” a representative for NBC and Universal Television told Deadline. And added: “We are working with local law enforcement officers as they continue the investigation. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy at this time.”
The offshoot of the “Law & Order” series is currently filming its third season.
