In Vienna, wearing an FFP2 mask is still mandatory on public transport. However, especially on hot days, public transport travelers repeatedly renounce corona protection. Now the Wiener Linien want to carry out more checks again.
“Like you, we are annoyed by the fact that some people do not comply with the mask obligation,” the transport company assured via Twitter. That is why from now on more checks will be carried out in public transport together with the police. Wiener Linien announced that there would also be more announcements and additional information on the info screens.
Anyone who does not comply with the regulation can expect a fine of 50 euros. By the way, it is also not allowed to photograph disobedient passengers or even pull the emergency brake because of it.
Risk groups need more protection
The reason for the mask requirement in town hall is, among other things, that public transport is also used by risk groups for whom contamination with the corona virus is particularly dangerous. In contrast to attending events, where attendance is voluntary, those involved are often not free to choose whether to use a means of transport to, for example, go to a doctor, is emphasized.
