A previously unknown motorcyclist in Kematen in Tyrol escaped a civilian patrol on Saturday evening. A few days later, the motorcycle was found in an underground parking garage in Fulpmes. The trail led to a 20-year-old man from the neighborhood. During a search of the house, officers found drugs and weapons.
On Saturday evening, a motorcyclist was arrested on the A12 near Kematen who overtook a civilian patrol of the National Traffic Service. A search by officials revealed that the license plate had been stolen. The patrol tried to stop the handlebars of the motorcycle. He then drove off at high speed in the direction of the A13, ignoring all traffic signs on the run.
Driver managed to escape
Other drivers had to brake hard because of the fugitive’s risky driving style and overtaking maneuvers. A collision with the motorcycle was avoided. “Despite multiple police officers being involved, it was not possible to stop the motorcyclist or the officers kept losing sight of the fugitive,” the director said. The further search was negative, the motorcyclist managed to escape.
The bike was finally spotted in an underground parking garage in Fulpmes on Monday afternoon. The officials were investigating a 20-year-old Austrian from the Kufstein district as the owner. “Due to further police investigations, the Innsbruck prosecutor’s office has ordered the man’s arrest and a search of his apartment,” the police said.
Drugs, weapons and no driver’s license
There the officials found what they were looking for: they seized small amounts of narcotics and several prohibited weapons. There is an enforced gun ban for the man. The suspect also does not have a driver’s license. After the investigation was completed, the man was reported on suspicion of endangering his physical safety, illegal possession of weapons, violations of the Narcotics Act and numerous administrative violations.
