In the primary school in Kopfing in Upper Austria, the entire ceiling in the stairwell fell down on Monday. Due to the summer holidays, there were no students or teachers in the building.
Cleaners who were cleaning the school had heard a noise, mayor Bernhard Schasching (ÖVP) confirms in a message in the “BezirksRundSchau” on Tuesday. No one was injured.
With plasterboard cladding, aluminum rails and insulation
The ceiling, including drywall cladding, aluminum rails and insulation, fell down within half an hour, they said. According to the head of the community, the staircase was also redone 24 years ago as part of the renovation. Now it’s the experts’ turn to determine the cause of the collapse. The primary school is closed until further notice.
