An unknown person called three police stations in Linz and threatened to blow up Linz’s main station. A 16-year-old from Traun was identified as a result of extensive investigations, which also included tracking the location of the cell phone whose number was used to make calls.
No explosives found
Soon after, the Cobra and the Bureau for the Protection of the Constitution were on his doorstep to secure cell phones and laptops. Even the specially trained police dog couldn’t find any explosives.

The 16-year-old was questioned, but he did not confess, stating that his cell phone was apparently used remotely and that an unknown person was responsible for the threats. This was previously announced to him in a voice chat app. He was also able to play back the recording for the agents.
The 16-year-old was subsequently returned to his legal guardians. The investigation is underway.
