A flying lesson for a 16-year-old paraglider pilot in Sillian, East Tyrol, ended dramatically on Tuesday. When his plane suddenly fell, the teenager crashed and injured himself.
Shortly before 6 p.m., the German flew his paraglider into the valley from the launch site of a flying school in Sillian. He piloted the paraglider alone, his flight instructor guided him over the radio.
Just before the boy was about to land in Sillian, his paraglider suddenly stalled for unknown reasons. The student pilot slowed him down and fell to the ground from a low height.
The 16-year-old suffered serious injuries to his arms. He received first aid from the emergency doctor on the spot, after which the rescue took him to the hospital in Lienz.
