After increasingly clear doubts about the meaning of the “separation machinery” – also by GECKO chairman Katharina Reich herself – the corona quarantine seems to be coming to an end soon. Instead, there will be traffic restrictions in the future for infected people, who will then only be allowed to enter certain vulnerable areas. You can also take it to the office or restaurant if you are corona sick.
The background of the quite drastic cutbacks in the fight against the pandemic is mainly the enormous staff shortage due to the high number of corona cases and quarantine. As reported, many airlines have already experienced disruptions. This should not happen to the critical infrastructure (hospitals, etc.). Many people also try to avoid a possible quarantine by simply not testing themselves anymore.
“Corona teams” in the workplace
Hence the so-called traffic restriction. But here too bizarre situations threaten to arise – for example, it is intended that “corona teams”, as “Heute” is currently quoting from a draft regulation. So infected people should work with infected people – this is where the mask can fall too…
The (FFP2) mask is apparently the last measure that the government is still sticking to. It would be a “strict protective measure” during the traffic restriction. In the future, infected people will probably only be allowed to wear a face mask to the workplace, to the catering industry or to the sports field – and that must then be worn ‘continuously’. If you do not want or are not allowed to wear them (for example for medical reasons), you should be prohibited from entering the areas mentioned.
Infected people are still not allowed to enter hospitals, nursing homes, kindergartens or primary schools.
It is unclear whether the regulations will actually come into effect. In any case, the Ministry of Health has now confirmed the existence of a corresponding concept. But there they want to “work in peace”, as Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) recently explained. Criticism has once again arisen over the fact that the draft has not yet been agreed with SPÖ-led nations – although it could go into effect as early as August.
