It was supposed to be a holiday adventure for a twelve-year-old boy. He was allowed to ride on the tractor. But the trip to the field with the farmer ended in a fatal slide. The boy survived.
The 56-year-old farmer from Innererschwand was walking in one of his meadows with the holidaymaker’s child, a 12-year-old boy, when the accident happened at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
The 56-year-old is said to have steered the tractor uphill with the mulcher mounted. After several working steps, the tractor slipped on the steep terrain, became unstoppable, slid over two ditches and hit trees – a birch abruptly stopped the fall. The two occupants were thrown from the tractor.
The emergency doctor from the Red Cross, two rescue helicopters and two fire brigades rushed to the scene of the accident. Despite CPR measures, the 56-year-old died at the scene of the accident. The 12-year-old was seriously injured and flew to the UKH Salzburg with the rescue helicopter “Martin 3”. The relatives were taken care of by the crisis intervention team of the Red Cross.
