Three young employees of a company at Düsseldorf airport have been made redundant with immediate effect. The reason: A video shows the three of them showing the greeting of the terrorist organization IS in the camera while they were at work.
The newspaper “Bild” reported on the incident on Friday. A photo posted on social media shows three men in work clothes standing on the tarmac, symbolically pointing their index fingers upwards. According to Düsseldorf Airport, the access authorization to the security zone of the airport has been revoked to the people.
A police spokesman said in the morning that they drove to the addresses of the men on Thursday. Two of them got a threatening speech, and the third was on vacation. “We will continue to focus on him – when he is back, we will also talk to him about danger.”
Prosecutor: No investigation
The Attorney General of Düsseldorf is not investigating the matter, a spokesman for the German news agency said on Friday. Pointing a finger is not a crime.
The police use dangerous speeches when they receive indications of a possible criminal offence. She performs, for example, with extremists and hooligans. The officials want to indicate that the person is being targeted and that they should not respond to any thoughts they may have. Addressing the dangerous person is therefore a preventive measure to prevent a possible later criminal offense.
Düsseldorf Airport is the largest in the most populous state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH stated “that the persons affected by the federal police investigations are not employees of Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH, but employees of a service provider working on the airport grounds”. The respective company does not work on behalf of the GmbH.
