A trailer pulled by a mobile home belonging to a German holiday family caught fire in the Brentenberg tunnel on the Tauernautobahn on Sunday night. With the presence of mind, the steering wheel pulled out of the tube, thus preventing a tunnel fire. The trailer was loaded with two boats and several jerry cans with a total of about 200 liters of petrol.
The fire is believed to have started in a trailer tire. Shortly after the start of the extinguishing work, part of the petrol cans burst and flaming fuel escaped.
The fire brigade therefore continued to fight the fire with foam. The Parish and Wharf fire brigades spent about two hours with more than 50 men. The highway was completely closed at that time.
