A young man who went on a treasure hunt in Unterallgäu (D) went through a real shock on Sunday afternoon. In a field, he discovered a WWII mortar shell – which was still intact!
With the permission of the field owner, the young man went on a treasure hunt on a piece of land near Mindelheim (Bavaria) on Sunday afternoon. Using a metal detector, he hoped to discover one or the other treasure. What he found, however, was an extremely dangerous “bomb find” in the truest sense of the word. There was an intact World War II mortar round in the field.
“Bomb find” buried again
The man immediately notified the Mindelheim Police Inspectorate, who in turn informed the Ordnance Disposal Service. After consultation with the specialists, the grenade must be covered again with soil to protect it from direct sunlight until it is recovered by the specialists on Monday.
