The wolf continues to wreak havoc in Tyrol. Especially the one with the designation “158MATK” causes problems for the farmers in the country. Tears in 20 sheep are at his expense. The supervisory board “Wolf – Bär – Lynx” met on Monday and the state government on Tuesday. As a result, the basis for the removal, or shooting, of the wolf has been created.
The sheep farmers in the municipality of Ellbogen were especially affected by the predator. In addition to the 20 reported deaths that have been officially confirmed, another 17 dead sheep found between Friday and Sunday believed to have been killed by the wolf are identified as ‘158MATK’.
As a result, the Board of Trustees agreed that it “poses an immediate, significant hazard to grazing animals”. The members therefore recommended that the predator be removed.
After a meeting on Tuesday, the state government under LH Günther Platter followed this recommendation and passed a hazard ordinance that “recommends the removal of the wolf 158MATK”.
