Date:

It is thanks to an attentive bank employee that an elderly woman from Innsbruck (81) did not give all her savings to the wrong police officer. The woman wanted to use the money to free her daughter from prison. But the story was fictional.

The scammers contacted the 81-year-old by phone on Tuesday. They pretended to be police officers and told the woman a horror story. Her daughter was involved in a serious accident. A child died as a result. Now the daughter of the Innsbruck resident is said to be in custody.

Alleged bail was about 50,000
According to false police officers, the bail amounted to about 50,000 euros. The Tyrolean was immediately prepared to pay this. She rushed to her bank and wanted to withdraw the money in cash. An employee thought this was suspicious. He inquired about the reason for the high uptake and noticed the customer’s response was unusual.

The bank employee then called the appropriate police. This moved and saved the 81-year-old from losing the large sum of money. It soon became clear that the story about the arrested daughter was false and that the callers were scammers.
