There is already a replacement for Gregorio Villalabeitia at the head of Kutxabank. As EITB Media has learned, the person chosen to open a new phase in the Basque entity is: Anton Arriola (Durango, 1967).

Arriola holds a degree in economics and business from the University of Deusto and an MBA from Luigi Bocconi University, and has a distinguished career in finance. In that sense, he has held high positions of responsibility in Goldman Sachs and other companies, and has built his career in cities such as Milan, New York Y London.

In 2019 he joined the Supervisory Board BBK, although it has not taken a public profile at any point. In fact, the vast majority of references that can be found about him have to do with another of his passions, which is writing, as he has published six books, the last of which is based on ETA’s murder of José María Ryan, chief engineer of the Lemoiz Nuclear Power Plant.

The future president of Kutxabank fits the profile sought for the position: of the country, attached to the social reality of the country, with international experience and knowledge of the entity from within.

Arriola will be put in charge of an entity that made more than €216 million last year, 20% more than the year before.
