Even if the increasing environmental awareness and climate debate are driving the number of e-cars to grow continuously, there is also a trend towards high-power passenger cars. The number of horsepower in Austria has increased by almost a fifth (18.5%) since 2012, from about 104 to 123 horsepower on average.
“Apparently the safety aspect is still the priority with heavier and therefore more powerful cars,” says Doris Wendler, director of Wiener Städtische Versicherung.
Pleasant: For 60% of the respondents, environmental considerations such as saving resources, climate change, etc. are relevant when driving. However, the research also shows that younger people still rely on conventional driving styles. Only 10% of young people under the age of 30 want to buy an electric car. Possible incentive: Premium discounts as a climate bonus in liability insurance.
