Iñigo Ansola, General Director of the Basque Energy Entity (EVE)pointed out on Friday that both government and industry and households must take measures in favor of “the” energy efficiency” and to save more energy. All the departments of the Basque government, provincial councils, EUDEL and EVE are meeting this morning to analyze the measures to face the energy crisis, and before the meeting began, Ansola emphasized in an interview on Radio Euskadi’s Boulevard program that ” we all need to think about how we can save more energy”.
Ansola stressed the importance of taking measures to save energy and reduce gas consumption, in a context of energy crisis at European level: “It is already having an impact on us”, he stressed, “because the price of gas and oil derivatives increased “. In this sense, the director of the EVE explained that, “thanks to our gas transport infrastructure”, the Basque Country is in a more favorable situation than other countries and territories in the event of a possible decision by Russia to cut supply, but he has insisted on less vigilance: “The root of the problem is that we have a very high energy dependency, and the price of fossil fuels affects our wallets”.
The EVE, the director recalls, “has been advising measures to save more energy and consume less for 40 years; now is the time” to put them into practice, he stressed, before specifying what some of them might be: “Air conditioning, rehabilitation, increasingly isolated public buildings, sustainable mobility or alternatives to the combustion engine”.
“We need to think about how we can be more efficient and save more energy,” he repeated, also pointing out that this saving means that we spend less money and also help to take care of the environment.
