The seriously injured worker last July 15 he died in the TAV factory in Tafalla, the trade union LAB reported.

In a statement, LAB stressed that “this death is as utterly cruel and painful as it is unnecessary, as a useless and unnecessary infrastructure work.”

“We also want to denounce that at that time, when Nafarroa burned in multiple fires and many activities were paralyzed, those who were responsible for them decided to continue the activity, exposed their employees to work in extremely dangerous hot conditions, increasing the risk of an occupational accident,” adds LAB.

LAB: ‘There are several accidents at work and deaths during construction work TAV’

The union denounces that “several accidents at work and people have been killed in the TAV construction works in Euskal Herria, which is a testament to the precarious working conditions in which these tasks are carried out.”

For this reason, LAB is demanding “a serious and in-depth investigation into the circumstances in which this accident occurred, removing any responsibilities that might exist” and that “a safety audit be carried out on all TAV works in Euskal Herria”.

Finally, it demands “the paralysis of this useless infrastructure, which is swallowing up not only abundant public money and natural resources, but also the lives of workers.”
