Tyrolean (22) deceased – fatal accident: did the prisoners lie?

Date:

How did the horror crash in the Tyrolean Haiming (Imst district) come about, in which a 22-year-old driver was killed on Saturday evening? Who was driving the second vehicle involved? Was there alcohol involved? The investigation into the horrific head-on collision continues. Particularly brutal: apparently the two men involved in the accident told the emergency services a tall tale, which led to a major search operation.

The horrific accident happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Friday: The locals were on the main road in the Ötztal Achbrücke area when the heavy pick-up truck carrying the two men (aged 28 and 34) approached them. The head-on collision with the small Audi took place.

The 22-year-old from Imst was trapped in the wreckage. “Although the emergency doctor treated her through the window, unfortunately all help came too late,” said Thomas Steinkeller, commander of the Sautens fire brigade.

Apparently “enough alcohol” in the game
Despite injuries, the two occupants of the pickup got out of the vehicle themselves. They were transferred to Zams Hospital. “When asked who was driving the car, they blamed each other,” district police commander Hubert Juen told Krone. Blood samples were secured. The result is not yet officially known, but it has now been leaked that “a lot of alcohol” may have been involved.

Search for alleged taxi driver
The “Krone” learned another explosive detail from emergency services circles: The two allegedly intoxicated occupants allegedly hired a taxi driver to drive them with their pickup. He walked away injured after the crash. A major search operation was then launched in this area, involving the police, fire brigade and mountain rescue services, among others.

Gradually, however, it turned out that it had to be a “fake story”. No one was found and the search was eventually called off. In any case, suspicion that this was a “cowardly lie” had been reinforced.

Autopsy, wrecks seized
The wrecks were seized and the fatality autopsy. The Achbrücke is still a sad reminder for emergency services: in 2016, a local driver (18) collided head-on with a van. She died in hospital days later.
