Fatal traffic accident Saturday afternoon in East Tyrol: A 17-year-old motorcyclist collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle while overtaking. The young man was thrown from the vehicle and seriously injured.
The serious accident happened shortly after 3.30pm in Sillian: the young resident was riding his motorcycle on the B100 Drautal road when he collided with the car of a 74-year-old while overtaking.
Seriously injured on the side of the road
“The 17-year-old was thrown from the motorcycle and remained seriously injured on the side of the road. The force of the impact catapulted the motorcycle a few meters back,” police said.
After first aid at the accident site, the boy flew to the Innsbruck clinic with the emergency doctor helicopter. Both vehicles sustained massive damage. The 74-year-old driver was not injured.
