Hardly any measures – these corona rules still apply in Europe

Date:

In Austria, the corona situation has largely eased. As the federal government decided on Wednesday, all measures must now be over by June 30 at the latest. In many European countries, no measures have been in force for a long time – in others, however, there are still some rules that must be observed.

In Bulgaria, the Covid measures have already been completely lifted – although the country has the lowest vaccination rate in the EU. Denmark lifted measures to combat the virus a year ago – followed by Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Corona rules no longer apply in Great Britain, Ireland and the Netherlands, but also in Turkey and Hungary.

Still a notifiable disease in many places
Although there are no longer any corona regulations in Switzerland, individual cantons can still impose measures for events if they deem it necessary. There is no longer any regulation in the Czech Republic either – Corona remains a notifiable disease. If an infection is detected, authorities recommend seven days of home isolation. In France, face masks are no longer mandatory, but healthcare institutions can put them on themselves.

Wearing a face mask on public transport is almost never mandatory throughout Europe. In Greece, face masks are still mandatory on public transport. As announced by the union of train and bus drivers, every third traveler does not comply. Those who do not wear a face mask actually have to pay a fine of 300 euros. But that hasn’t been checked for a long time.

Mask obligation in German long-distance traffic is falling
Germany will lift the mask obligation in long-distance transport from Thursday after almost three years. In half of the German federal states, the transport obligation no longer applied.

The Spanish government is particularly careful about easing
In Spain, too, wearing a face mask in public transport will be abolished in the coming weeks. The country was hit particularly hard by the pandemic in early 2020. That is why the government has been extra careful in relaxing the rules. Only a year ago, the mask obligation was abolished outside the home.

However, the corona situation looks slightly different in healthcare institutions across Europe. In many European countries, the mask obligation remains in hospitals – such as in Portugal, Greece and Spain. In Germany, the scheme applies until April 7, in Italy until the end of April. In Poland, the mask obligation should initially apply until the end of March.
