Josef Lenzhofer was married to his Irma for 64 years. “A wonderful woman and we always got along well, we reacted to each other. In addition, she cooked wonderfully and I liked to eat everything,” explains the former army chief of his wedding recipe.
Dating in a newspaper ad
On Christmas Eve, his wife, who was three weeks older than him, fell asleep. A heavy blow, but Josef got up again and made the decision to start looking for a partner again—with a good old newspaper ad that the Internet stopped coming into the house, but a new wife did.
Women come and go in the self-built house in Villach: Nurses want to be trained in Josef’s favorite hobby, the card game Jolly. “But talking is difficult.” And that’s what the father of four children in the 90+ life stage is all about; about communication. “I just want someone to talk to.
