14-year-old Ayleen only wanted to bring a sweater to a friend, but the girl never came back. The body of the German teenager who had been missing for days was reportedly found on Friday in a lake 300 kilometers from her home. Police have now released details about the crime. A 29-year-old man is in custody. He is already known to authorities, having spent ten years of his life in prison after attempting to rape an 11-year-old. He was released in 2017 and then spent some time in a program for repeat sex offenders.
Police in Freiburg confirmed on Monday that the death was a violent crime. It is still unclear how the young person, who would have met the suspect through online games, died, prosecutor Franziska Scheuble said. The body had been in the water for several days, making the autopsy and determining the exact cause of death difficult, according to a press conference on Monday afternoon.
Suspect denies allegations
Investigators say the student drove the suspect’s car. The exact route is still under investigation. Defendant has so far not shown much in this regard.
According to the prosecutor, the 29-year-old initially denied the allegations and remained silent to the magistrate. Authorities charge the man with confiscation of minors, assault and murder with the intent to cover it up.
