A hydrofoil on its way to the island of Ischia crashed into a quay in the port of Naples on Tuesday. 28 passengers were injured in the accident, including a baby who was only a few months old.
The accident was due to a steering wheel failure and the captain was unable to avoid the collision, the Coast Guard said. The impact injured 28 people, three of them seriously, although no one is in a life-threatening condition.
Among the injured was a few months old girl who injured her head in the collision. The baby was immediately taken to hospital for a check-up, authorities said.
The island of Ischia in the Gulf of Naples is a popular holiday destination for tourists from all over the world.
