Incredible scenes took place on Wednesday on the Riedbergpass road between Oberstdorf and Balderschwang (Bavaria), in the immediate vicinity of the Austrian border. The road had to be closed to rescue a crashed paraglider pilot with serious spinal injuries with an emergency medical helicopter. This infuriated one tourist so much that he insulted both the accident victim and the local police officers.
A 28-year-old paraglider pilot fell into steep terrain near the top of the Riedberg Pass for unknown reasons. He sustained serious spinal injuries. He had to be flown to a hospital in a rescue helicopter. During the rescue operation, the road had to be closed to the helicopter.
A tourist who had to wait for the lockdown became upset and blocked the police who were helping to rescue the injured man. When asked to go to his vehicle, he made disparaging remarks about the injured person and insulted a police officer. He can now expect a report.
