Four ships carrying food left Ukraine’s Black Sea ports on Sunday, Ukrainian and Turkish officials said. The four bulk trucks were loaded with more than 160,000 tons of corn and other groceries. These are the cargo ships Mustafa Necati, Star Helena, Glory and Riva Wind. Meanwhile, the first cargo ship carrying Ukrainian grain will dock in Lebanon later than expected.
The arrival of the ship “Razoni” planned for this Sunday was cancelled, the ARD reports on Saturday evening. No information was given about the reasons. At the beginning of the week, after several months of Russian naval blockade, the first grain freighter – carrying 26,000 tons of maize – left a Ukrainian Black Sea port.
After a successful journey through the Black Sea corridor agreed between the warring parties and an inspection of the Bosphorus by, among others, Turkish and Russian experts, the “Razoni” is on its way to Lebanon. Russian state news agency Tass reported that the cargo ship will dock on Tuesday – it has changed its route.
More and more ships are leaving Ukraine
On Saturday evening, the second grain freighter was allowed to cross the Bosphorus to the Mediterranean Sea. After an international inspection in Istanbul, the ship, loaded with 33,000 tons of maize from Ukraine, was allowed to continue its journey. Two more ships are expected soon.
The resumption of Ukrainian grain exports is considered important for stabilizing food prices on the world market. For now, however, Kiev wants to send only three ships a day for security reasons.
