All the autonomous communities of the state have shown their willingness to contribute to the bill on energy savings proposed by the Spanish government. At the meeting that took place this Wednesday, all the Autonomous Communities commitment to comply with the decreeas stated in a subsequent press conference by Teresa Ribera, the Minister for the Ecological Transition.
According to Ribera, they have asked the Ministry of Autonomous Communities to send their proposals in writing before August 31, so for now they are waiting for proposals for the emergency plan. The decree-law is already in force and some of the measures will come into effect this week. From Wednesday, public buildings, commercial spaces and department stores must limit the use of air conditioning to 27 degrees in summer and heating to 19 degrees in winter. The shop windows will also have to turn off the lights at night.
For its part, the Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment of the Basque Government, Arantxa Tapia, sent this Monday the “ultimate will” Euskadi to comply with the energy saving decree, but has called for “a little flexibility”.
