Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban usually spends his summer vacations in Croatia on the Adriatic Sea. This time, the stay did not go smoothly: the 59-year-old got into trouble with a motorboat. A journalist friend had to bring him ashore.
“His boat was broken, so I took him, his wife and his bodyguard to the shore,” journalist Boris Vrkić told Slobodna Dalmacija newspaper. He also gave the newspaper, for which he himself worked, a photo that shows him with Orban in his motorboat.
In a good mood during a rescue operation
The incident happened last weekend in a bay on the island of Vis. Orban was in a good mood during the rescue operation, Vrkić continued. He then recommended a seafood restaurant to him above Rukavac bay.
The right-wing populist Prime Minister Orban (59), who repeatedly provokes with his statements, is not the first politician to find herself in distress at sea in the Adriatic. Last year, ex-Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache had to be rescued from a yacht that caught fire. The ship then fell prey to the flames.
