Documents destroyed? – Pictures of suspicious pieces of paper in Trump’s toilet

Date:

After the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s luxury property in Mar-a-Lago, sensational images have now surfaced that are said to weigh heavily on the ex-president. They show pieces of paper that Trump allegedly threw in the toilet. He would have unlawfully destroyed government documents in this way. A reporter reported that the toilets in the White House often got clogged because Trump used to make torn plates disappear.

It has been known for some time that the ex-president would have thrown away documents in the toilet – investigative journalist Maggie Haberman had already reported about this in a book about Trump. Now images of her have also leaked from the quiet room that was used as a paper shredder. On it you see a few pieces of paper that apparently successfully resisted the toilet flush.

The photos were published by the news site Axios. Haberman had already reported in her book, which appeared last October, that the then president had tried to get rid of cracked plates in this way, which had even led to blockages in the toilet several times. A Trump spokesman sharply rejected these allegations: “You have to try very desperately to sell books if pictures of paper in toilet bowls are part of the advertising plan,” he told Axios indignantly.

Do you also throw away documents on foreign trips?
However, the news site is convinced of the authenticity of the photos. Trump’s handwriting is recognizable – a “Sharpie ink” pen was also used, which the former US president also likes to use. Axios also claims to have recognized the contents of the fragments: the name Elise Stefanik is written on a scrap. She is a congressman from New York and has a close relationship with Trump. The photos allegedly show a toilet in the White House and another in an unknown location, which had been abused as a garbage can by the former head of state during a trip abroad.

Take home crates of government documents?
The recordings are so explosive because in the US all correspondence from a president must be archived and thus preserved for posterity – that too is a legal requirement. Due to an alleged violation of this provision, the FBI raided Trump’s private property Monday night. Because Trump is said to have brought entire boxes of government documents, letters and gifts from the White House to Mar-a-Lago – including letters from North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un.
