Three other Palestinians were killed in the operation, which took place just two days after the ceasefire with Islamic Jihad was reached in the Gaza Strip
Four Palestinians, including a commander of the Fatah movement, were killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, and dozens more injured, two days after the end of an operation in Gaza that left more than 40 dead.
On Tuesday morning, three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli attack in Nablus, including Ibrahim al-Nabulsi, a senior official in the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, one of the main militant groups in the West Bank operating under the ruling Fatah party.
Later, another Palestinian died after being injured in Hebron, in the south of the occupied territory, after clashes with the Israeli army. The latter confirmed that he had conducted a joint operation with the police and the Shin Beth, the internal intelligence services, against “the terrorist” al Nabulsi and that they had used a missile against the home of this fighter suspected of being involved in a series of attacks on Israel.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its doctors treated dozens of people for gunshot wounds in the Nablus area, and at least four of them were in critical condition.
The Palestinian health ministry identified the deceased in Hebron as Yasin Jaber, 17, and the other two dead in Nablus as Islam Sabbuh and Hussein Taha, aged 25 and 16, respectively.
After the assassination of Al Nabulsi, Fatah’s armed wing warned in a statement that “the response will be equal to the crime”.
The army’s raid comes two days after the end of an Israeli military operation against the Palestinian armed movement Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip that killed 46 Palestinians, including several children, according to a Palestinian report. The terrorist organization responded with more than 1,000 missiles, the military said. An Egyptian-brokered truce on Sunday ended three days of intense fighting.
At least 57 Palestinians have been killed since March, most of them in that Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967. The victims include both alleged militants and non-combatants, such as veteran television journalist Shireen Abu Akleh of “Al Jazeera,” when it covered an Israeli raid on Jenin. Attacks on Israelis killed 19 in the same period.
