A nighttime basketball game of several teenagers in Klagenfurt came to an abrupt end when a 53-year-old man suddenly appeared with a samurai sword.
The young boys and girls between the ages of 16 and 18 met at a basketball court in Feschnig on Tuesday at 11:15 pm to throw some baskets. The 53-year-old from Klagenfurt arrived a few minutes later, drew his samurai sword and threatened the youths with it.
They immediately fled and alerted the police. The intervening police patrol was able to find the man from Klagenfurt on the spot.
Suspect denies crime
“The man had put the sword on the ground a few meters away,” police said. The 53-year-old was arrested and provisionally questioned, but he did not confess when questioned and claimed he had not threatened anyone. The samurai sword has been seized by the police and a temporary weapons ban has been imposed on the 53-year-old from Klagenfurt.
