Difficult rescue operation Wednesday night in Wildon (Styria): A hiker fell on the Schlossberg in rough terrain and had to be transported by tractor. The Wildon fire brigade was deployed with 15 helpers.
Shortly after 9 p.m., the Wildon Fire Department was called to an operation at the local Schlossberg. A hiker had fallen down a steep slope into the rugged terrain of the ruins. Fortunately, the injured man was able to call 911 himself.
Injured located by screaming
Because the environment is very confusing, the victim first had to be located through multiple phone calls and loud screams. First aid was performed by the EMS before a local farmer drove the FF Wildon’s human rescue team to the injured by tractor along with the emergency doctor and work equipment.
Transported to the tractor with a basket stretcher
The rescue was quite difficult due to the steep terrain. With serious foot and hand injuries, the walker had to be carried on a basket stretcher to the tractor and on to the ambulance on paved ground. The Wildon fire brigade took action with two vehicles, the Red Cross with two vehicles and an emergency doctor and the police.
