The prospect of a large sum of money turned out to be a fatal mistake for a criminal. The man disclosed his personal details and could be traced in Lower Austria a short time later.
A Hungarian (48) in Ybbs in the Melk district seized the moment: he stole five tickets from the passenger seat of a car in a parking lot when the owner (54) just returned the shopping cart. Although the 54-year-old had blocked the accounts, the man left no stone unturned to collect the possible prize.
Provoked data on the spot
Not knowing how to redeem the notes himself and not speaking German, the 48-year-old turned to a compatriot. He sent an email to the Austrian Lotteries. But the request for payment was not heeded. Therefore, the thief personally appeared in Vienna. However, employees who had already been sensitized made him believe that he had made a lot of profit. In this way, all personal data could be extracted from him.
Although the Hungarian left the branch again, the police could now search for him specifically. Moments later, the criminal, who was already wanted in Germany, was arrested shortly after another theft.
paid out profit
Incidentally, the lottery tickets contained only a small prize, which the victim subsequently received.
