At least one person has been killed and three others injured in a series of firearms attacks on the Isle of Skye in western Scotland yesterday. The first incident was recorded in Tarskavaig, where a woman in her thirties suffered gunshot wounds. Just half an hour later, in Teangue, some eight miles away, a series of shots were reported and the death of a man in his fifties was confirmed.
Finally, in Dornie, on the Scottish mainland, the latest shooting occurred, leaving two injured, one in serious condition and taken to hospital. Authorities say the incidents are related to the arrest of a suspect in his 40s, who was also evacuated to a hospital in Inverness, about 60 miles from the site of the attacks.
Scotland Police Superintendent Conrad Trickett acknowledged that such events are “extremely rare” as investigators continued the investigation last night to determine the motive for the shooting.
