In Gosau (Upper Austria), a feverish search is underway for a missing 64-year-old. The man had already gone out with his nephew to look for mushrooms on Wednesday and at 10:00 a.m. their ways parted. Since then, the man has been missing and has not returned to the meeting point. Wednesday’s search had to be interrupted around 11 p.m. and the search has been going on since 8 a.m.
The man from Sankt Wolfgang and his 41-year-old nephew went on a mushroom hunt on the Zeishofalm in Gosau on Wednesday. They parted ways around ten o’clock in the morning. Because his uncle had not yet returned to the starting point in the evening, the 41-year-old sounded the alarm just before 6 p.m. An initial search by some relatives and acquaintances turned up nothing.
Helicopters are also used
Alpine police officers, police helicopters, mountain rescuers and sniffer dogs went in search of the missing person. Operational flights of the two helicopters from Upper Austria and Salzburg had to be halted around 9 p.m. due to darkness. Even the service dogs found no trace until 11 p.m. They had searched the area where the 64-year-old was last seen.
Unfortunately, the large-scale operation had to be aborted without success and the search will continue on Thursday.
