“Please stop” was the message for the Red Cross rescue team Mattighofen Friday shortly after 3 a.m. Josef didn’t want to wait any longer and saw the light of day in Furth (Upper Austria).
Shortly after half past one in the morning, the Innviertel rescue center alerted Mattighofen’s local ambulance to a birth. The team Hans-Jörg Schlager, Markus Schmid and Selina Schamberger were amazed when mother-to-be Renate Brandstätter and her husband Michael were already waiting in front of the rescue garage in Mattighofen.
Shortly after leaving Mattighofen it became clear that it was no longer possible to go to the hospital. The GP from Mattighofen and the ambulance from Braunau were alerted.
Mother and child well
At 3:03 a.m., Josef was born in the ambulance (height 49 cm, weight: 3310 g), the rescue team and Dr. Michaela Wögerbauer from the general practitioner has helped him. After the first medical examination, the journey could now be continued with mother and child to the Braunau hospital.
