Police action in motorcycle traffic at the weekend in Tyrol and on the access roads in Carinthia, Salzburg and Vorarlberg! During the cross-border special operation on Saturday, the police recorded a total of more than 800 violations – most of the cyclists pulled from traffic were speeding.
A whole series of serious motorcycle accidents have already occurred on the Tyrolean roads this year. In addition to numerous injuries, there have unfortunately been eight fatalities so far. The police use these sad figures to take extraordinary actions time and again. Also outside the borders of the federal states – such as last Saturday between 1 pm and 7 pm.
554 motorcyclists drove too fast
The balance: in Tyrol and on the access roads in Carinthia, Salzburg and Vorarlberg a total of 842 (!) violations were counted in these six hours – the majority (554 cases) were speeding violations.
The most common causes of accidents
According to the Tyrolean traffic police, serious or even fatal motorcycle accidents can easily be prevented. Because: “Inappropriate speed, dangerous overtaking, insufficient distances, carelessness and driving errors are the most common causes of accidents. However, it also happens time and again that other motorists overlook motorcyclists and give way.”
Selected Crimes of the Weekend
- In Imst, two motorcyclists were flashed in a 50 zone with 100 and 110 km/h.
- During noise measurements on the Hahntennjoch, two motorcyclists were measured at 107 and 98 decibels. Only 95 decibels would be allowed there.
- A motorcyclist at 1.06 per thousand was stopped on a feeder route in Salzburg.
call from the police
Police are once again urging all motorcyclists to abide by the rules. Because one thing is certain: it will certainly not have been the last cross-border “action sharp”…
