“Containers are empty!” – Vorarlberg: municipality is struggling with acute water shortage

A municipality in Vorarlberg is currently struggling with acute water shortages. The residents of Langen bei Bregenz were asked by the municipality to save water ‘wherever you can’. One thing is certain, the drinking water tanks are empty, why is not known.

The municipality announced the water shortage on its website on Monday and addressed the approximately 1,500 residents with the “very urgent call” to save water. “Use water ONLY for minor personal hygiene and as drinking water for humans and animals.” Watering the lawn, filling pools, cleaning forecourts or washing the car is “strongly prohibited” until further notice.

Construction of an emergency facility immediately began, with water supplied from neighboring communities. Several fire brigades from the region helped with the Filling the drinking water tank.

delivery problems
The municipality is located about ten kilometers from the state capital of Vorarlberg. To be prepared for the future, an emergency network has already been established with the city of Bregenz-Fluh. However, due to delivery problems, it could not be put into operation yet. The necessary booster pump has not yet arrived.
