The Hausmann wholesaler has to file for bankruptcy. 450 creditors and 250 employees are affected.
A. Hausmann GmbH, based in Bruck an der Mur, is insolvent. A reorganization procedure was requested at the court in Leoben on Monday.
450 creditors and 250 employees are affected by the insolvency proceedings. Against assets of 17.2 million euros are liabilities of 26.2 million euros. It is the largest bankruptcy of a Styrian company in the current year 2022.
Hausmann is active in the wholesale trade and, in addition to a mail order company, also has six branches throughout Austria. Two of them are located in Styria: in Bruck an der Mur and in Seiersberg. Before the pandemic, 140,000 customers and an assortment of approximately 375,000 items were reported.
Difficult because of Corona
The company cites the consequences of the corona measures as the causes of the bankruptcy. The months-long closures, coupled with delivery problems, the loss of seasonal goods and rising transport costs, have exacerbated Hausmann’s financial problems of late.
The company, which has been in existence since 1946, wants to continue its activities under a restructuring plan.
