“Back to the roots” is the motto of ex-Chancellor Christian Kern. The former head of the SPÖ relinquishes his position as shareholder in the Blue Minds Group and takes over the operational leadership of the European Locomotive Group (ELL). The company rents out locomotives. Kern was CEO of ÖBB in 2010 and later of Rail Cargo Austria.
ELL rents out locomotives for cross-border passenger and freight routes in Europe. The company’s inventory includes approximately 170 Siemens Vectron locomotives, for which ELL has approvals in 16 countries.
Railway rental company based in Vienna
Kern succeeds Christoph Katzensteiner as head of the company, who is leaving the board of directors, the Vienna-based company announced on Wednesday. ELL is largely owned by insurer AXA and Credit Agricole/Predica, which together own 98 percent of the shares.
