Tesla delivered its next record last quarter, but at the same time missed even higher analyst expectations. Tech billionaire Elon Musk’s company brought 343,830 electric cars to buyers from July to September. The previous record was a good 310,000 in the first quarter of this year.
Tesla is currently expanding its production, including capacity expansion at the two new plants in Grünheide near Berlin and in Texas. For example, last quarter production reached almost 365,923 electric cars – mainly of the volume models 3 and Y.
Analysts had previously expected 358,000 deliveries. In Sunday’s announcement, Tesla pointed out that it is difficult to secure transportation capacity at a reasonable price, especially in the warm delivery phase at the end of the quarter.
Much attention is paid to Tesla’s delivery figures – as they are indicative of how well the electric pioneer is doing against increasing competition from established auto companies in the industry. The current question is to what extent inflation and concerns about the economy can slow down the market.
