“Krone” talk in Linz – Henry Maske: “I felt like a total beginner”

Date:

Former boxer, later McDonald’s franchisee, today a start-up engine: Henry Maske spoke in Linz about the fascination of technology, fitness and his commitment to children in need.

Signature cards signed by Henry Maske were ready at the entrance to the commercial clubhouse. On the first floor, the former boxer posed for photos with the guests of the 30th anniversary event of the Chamber of Commerce Direct Sales Commission: “My second visit to Linz,” said the 58-year-old.

“OÖ Krone”:Mr. Maske, you ended your professional boxing career in 1996 and later became a McDonald’s franchisee. What is your task today?
Hendrik mask: I sold my McDonald’s stores on December 31, 2019. I am currently lecturing and very involved in a technology start-up.

What is this about?
It is about a technology that can capture movements in boxing and other martial arts. It will bring out the athlete much more focused. This is revolutionary.

Speaking of digital technologies: would you have wanted that as a professional?
In any case, it is fascinating what is possible – you see that with the 100 meter sprinters, for example. Today they run much faster than they did 30 or 40 years ago. This is certainly thanks to technology and science.

How do you stay fit?
I don’t do boxing anymore. I boxed again 15 years ago after a nine year break. I felt like a total beginner, which was bad. I run, do strength training, bike – I am a well trained recreational athlete.

They are involved in a project called PerspektivFabrik, which gives needy children a carefree time. Is the need growing?
Yes – this is getting scarier. The fact that people are in need is no longer a marginal problem.
